Cartographic Animations are compilations of 2D and 3D imagery used to visualize the dynamic aspects of atmospheric phenomena. Cartographic animations can be used to depict such phenomena as the growth of a city, traffic accidents, population growth in urban regions and three-dimensional cartographic objects. The animation of maps has been predominantly associated with the representation of change over time.
